Why commission painting?
Creating art based on commissions offers a unique opportunity for partnership and collaboration. If my work speaks to you in some way, let’s begin the conversation about creating a commission painting for your home, business, or organization. Whether you’re a private collector, an interior designer, or representing a corporation, my step by step process will lead to a piece of art that you will be proud to feature for years to come.

We meet.
If you live in the Twin Cities, we can meet at my studio of 15+ years in NE Minneapolis. If that doesn’t work for you I can answer questions by phone or email.
Those of you who have the treat of meeting at my studio will quickly feel the excitement at the prospect of working together. Have you ever been inside a working art studio? The organized chaos will leave you feeling inspired and excited. I love sharing my arena of creative space with you as this is where I feel inspired and energized to create beautiful art for you.
If you live out of state, follow all the same steps via Facetime so you can see and get to know me, and know that I’m real and that I take my job very seriously!
We begin to vision your art work commission.
Our first step in painting design is to begin defining what excites you and draws you in. How do you want to feel when you look at the painting? Together we review my art portfolio and take careful note of your responses as we flip through the pages - the colors, shapes and styles you are drawn to.
I visit your space.
Any commission painting needs to be created in relationship to the space it will eventually live in. I come to your home or business to get a feel for your style, lighting, and of course measurements. If you are from out of town, we emulate this process as much as possible through an exchange of photographs so I can get a feel for your space.
Initial draft of your painting.
The next step is for me to create a rendering of my design concept for your review and approval. We can fine tune as needed, and once you give me the go ahead I will begin painting. We will also set a time frame for our work together. Typical commissioned paintings require 12 weeks from the start of our process together to delivery and hanging in your space.
I create your painting.
